“The Old City has a densely packed and largely intimate character […] It is characterised by some narrow streets and even narrower back alleys and courts.”*
During our (Bristol Civic Society) last Heritage Group’s meeting in November we continued our discussion around the many projects in the Old City carried out by different groups and Bristol City Council. Walks and surveys of the Old City might have exhausted people’s imagination so we thought that something new could be discovered with a night-time survey.
We will start the walk outside Horts pub in Broad Street, at 6:15 on Wednesday, January 15. Feel free to join us in the renewed pub from 17:45 for drinks, chats and preparation.
We will use the Our Place toolkit and its character notation prepared by Bristol City Council however other elements might need to be added as artificial lights or sounds which are more relevant when other features are lost in the dark. A preview of the new Old City Heritage trail leaflet prepared in collaboration with the Bristol Civic Society will also be available. The result of the survey will be fed back to Bristol City Council and other projects.
