The Bristol Art Prize
Known as 'Britain’s most enjoyable painting competition', after four very successful years in Bath, the competition turned its focus on Bristol for 2013.
Artists were invited to visit the city over the course of the summer and to take their inspiration from locations in and around the heart of Bristol.
Each artist was allocated a specific area of Bristol to paint as one of their competition entries, which has resulted in a wonderful collection of scenes from across the city, from the bustling harbourside to St Nicholas Market, the Old City, varied street scenes, historic and contemporary buildings, remarkable interiors and the greenery of The Downs and Queens Square.
Over 200 Bristol Art Prize paintings will be exhibited in the former Bristol Guildhall and Assize Courts, in the heart of the Old City, from Saturday 28th September, with private view on Friday 27th September.
