Ever wondered what it's like to go behind-the-scenes of some of Bristol's most extraordinary buildings? A new website, free smartphone app and trail map hold the secret, allowing virtual access to the city's most historic to most contemporary buildings: a true cultural collection for all to discover and enjoy.
Developed by the Architecture Centre, Bristol Opening Doors enables residents and visitors to explore some of the diverse buildings featured in the annual Doors Open Day, 365 days of the year. Featuring new showstoppers such as Horizon House (the new Environment Agency offices) and the Bristol Heart Institute, as well as much-loved favourites like the Exchange, Bristol Old Vic and St James Priory, the Bristol Opening Doors website includes 40 buildings of varying size, age, and purpose.
The website, blog and smartphone app will be live from 3 April: www.bristolopeningdoors.org and for more information on the project visit: www.architecturecentre.co.uk/bristol_opening_doors
Official Launch: Saturday 6 April 12-4pm
Exhibition: 3 April - 26 May
