In honour of all things green and Bristol’s Big Green Week 2013, Thistle Bristol, The Grand Hotel, has purchased two bikes to offer its guests for complimentary use to explore the city this summer.
With the UK’s premier festival of eco ideas, art and entertainment taking over the heart of Bristol until Sunday 23 June 2013, Thistle Bristol is encouraging guests to take advantage of its free cycle hire to join the fun. More than 40,000 visitors will descend on the city to enjoy family entertainment, inspiring talks, workshops, art, music, poetry, comedy, films and more as part of the annual Big Green Week festival.
Located on Broad Street, just a short cycle or walk away from many of Bristol's top sights, including Queen Square, the SS Great Britain and some of Banksy's famous street art pictures, Thistle Bristol, The Grand Hotel truly lives up to its name. And with its superb city centre location, the hotel makes for the ideal starting point to experience the city’s many sights and sounds by bike or on foot.
Thistle Bristol, The Grand Hotel, general manager, Mark Kelly commented: “We are thrilled to now offer guests an alternative way to get around the city and are enjoying encouraging our guests to think about how they get from A to B as part of the Big Green Week. Taking advantage of our free bikes is without a doubt one of the best ways to explore our city.”
Kelly Ballard, Head of Marketing at Destination Bristol, added: “Jumping on a bike is one of the simplest and best ways to experience life like a local and get around the city. Bristol was named England’s first ever cycling city five years ago and has since established an enviable cycling culture where people of all ages and abilities travel regularly by bike to school and work, to the shops or just for fun.”
“Now that Bristol has also been named European Green Capital 2015, we can expect cycling and other sustainable ways of travelling to be encouraged more than ever and it’s great that Thistle Bristol, The Grand Hotel, is getting involved and giving their guests the option to pedal around Bristol when they come to stay.”
